As a Pharmacy Technician in our Specialty Pharmacy and Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Services, you'll play a crucial role in revolutionizing the way patients access and adhere to specialty medications. Your contributions will not only impact individual patient outcomes but will also drive community health transformation through innovative pharmacy practices.

In collaboration with our pharmacists, you'll ensure the accurate preparation and delivery of specialty medications, fostering an environment of exceptional customer care and innovative health solutions. This role is intrinsically linked to patient empowerment, medication adherence, and ultimately, enhanced community well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of specialty medications.
  • Enter and manage patient information to ensure appropriate medication dosage.
  • Utilize correct dispensing procedures to ensure patients receive correct medication.
  • Conduct patient outreach to facilitate medication adherence and remove access barriers.
  • Perform simple medication reconciliation and update patient records as per pharmacist instructions.
  • Maintain adequate medication and supply stocks, employing safety protocols during stocking.
  • Handle and prioritize phone calls to manage workload effectively.
  • Process insurance adjudications and prior authorizations promptly; reconcile prescription fills against billing records.
  • Schedule patient appointments for pharmacist-driven clinical programs and ensure counseling offerings.
  • Communicate with referring physicians’ offices and insurance companies under pharmacist guidance.
  • Participate in onboarding and training of new team members.
  • Report unresolved issues to the Pharmacy Manager and understand the urgency of necessary follow-ups.
  • Create reporting tools to support medication adherence tracking.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification.
  • Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Ability to pass a math test pertinent to retail pharmacy activities.
  • Maintain required certifications and credentials including American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of three (3) years prior experience as a pharmacy technician.
