Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the pharmacist in preparing, filling, and delivering medications, ensuring all patient information is accurately entered and medication doses are appropriate.
  • Provide leadership in daily operations to maintain continuity in pharmacy services and meet quality standards, including safety protocols during medication stock management.
  • Ensure proper procedures for correct medication dispensing and facilitate patient counseling sessions, documenting as necessary.
  • Process insurance adjudications and pre-authorizations efficiently to enhance service delivery.
  • Engage in continuous improvement tasks like expired drug checks, area inspections, and order management to maintain operational excellence.
  • Play a role in educating new and current pharmacy team members, contributing to programs aligned with organizational needs such as immunizations and healthcare awareness days.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while handling inquiries, managing transactions at the cash register, and preserving patient confidentiality.
  • Conduct inventory responsibilities such as weekly controlled substance cycle counts and maintain integrity in the 340b program.
  • Embrace innovative practices in central fill pharmacy processes, playing a part in coordinating large volume medication dispensing.
  • Facilitate communication with patients and healthcare providers, ensuring responsiveness to patient messages and collaborative interactions with physicians' offices and insurance companies.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program is required.
  • Possess a current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate.
  • Hold a valid registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Capability to pass a math test relevant to retail pharmacy activities.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification is required for this role.
