Infectious Disease and Specialty Medical Assistant at Legacy Community Health (Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM | 2 Evenings Per Month Until 8PM | 1 Sat Per Month)

Join us at the forefront of community healthcare as an Infectious Disease and Specialty Medical Assistant. Located at the Legacy Montrose Clinic (1415 California St.), we are committed to providing exceptional medical services to every individual, regardless of their ability to pay. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), our mission is to enhance overall wellness and quality of life by treating patients holistically and offering essential services like free pregnancy tests and HIV/AIDS screenings. This role is pivotal in empowering our community to lead healthier lives through promoting beneficial health behaviors and resources such as literacy classes, family planning services, and nutrition and weight management support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interview patients to gather medical histories and record vital statistics, height, and weight in their medical records.
  • Collect and prepare blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate logging and readiness for testing.
  • Assist physicians in patient examinations by providing instruments, materials, and fulfilling tasks such as administering injections and removing sutures.
  • Maintain examination rooms in pristine condition, ensuring they are ready and inviting for patients.
  • Clean, sterilize, and properly dispose of medical instruments and contaminated supplies.
  • Conduct phone consultations offering advice on test results and addressing health concerns.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Medical Assistant or completion of a Medical Assistant certificate program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
