Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision for the optometry coordinator, ensuring efficient staff operations.
  • Act as the liaison between the reception area and billing department to optimize clinic performance.
  • Design and implement innovative departmental processes for daily clinic operations.
  • Coordinate all appointments, referrals, and consultations for ophthalmology patients effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with interdepartmental staff and systems to ensure cohesive service delivery.
  • Maintain superior customer service standards and address grievances as necessary.
  • Engage in marketing and networking initiatives to promote vision clinic services within the community.
  • Ensure meticulous documentation of services in compliance with laws, funding entities, and Legacy policies.
  • Monitor and manage the ophthalmology department's communication channels, responding to calls, emails, and faxes as needed.
  • Support the clinical coverage and patient services provided by the ophthalmologist.
  • Manage inventory controls and oversee the dispensing of medications and products in the ophthalmology department.
  • Establish and maintain vendor contracts for essential tools, equipment, and products, pre-approving purchases through a supervisor.
  • Assist in triaging urgent care services in collaboration with interdepartmental staff and community service entities.
  • Participate actively in vision team meetings and organizational performance improvement programs.
  • Perform other duties as required, contributing to the dynamic and supportive team environment at Legacy Community Health.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Current CPR and AED certification is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in coordinating clinical office duties.
  • Previous managerial experience in a healthcare setting is essential.
  • Prior experience in managing daily operations for a private practice vision clinic is necessary.
