Pharmacy Technician

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will become an integral part of this transformation, driving excellence in pharmaceutical care. Your role will be crucial in assisting pharmacists with the meticulous preparation, filling, and delivery of medications, ensuring the seamless operation of our pharmacy. Through your leadership, you will support our team to achieve timely and safe medication dispensing, minimizing service interruptions and upholding the highest standards of healthcare excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists by obtaining and entering patient information to ensure accuracy in medication dosing.
  • Utilize precise dispensing procedures to guarantee patients receive the correct medication.
  • Maintain adequate medication and supply inventory, adhering to safety protocols during stocking and preparation.
  • Adapt priorities based on workload to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • Ensure timely processing of insurance adjudication and pre-authorizations.
  • Complete and document daily and monthly activity checklists, including tasks like expired drug checks and area inspections.
  • Offer and document appropriate patient counseling times.
  • Communicate effectively with referring physicians and insurance companies when necessary.
  • Conduct weekly controlled substance cycle counts and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Participate in training and educational programs for new and existing pharmacy employees.
  • Engage in pharmacy-related organizational activities, such as immunization drives and health awareness days.
  • Deliver exemplary customer service, adhering to Legacy Community Health's values and standards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and support smooth shift transitions through effective hand-off communication.
  • Report unresolved issues to the Pharmacy Manager for prompt resolution.
  • Provide updates on drug availability and suggest par adjustments based on non-stock requests.
  • Participate in physical inventories and support the 340b program's inventory integrity.
  • Manage prescription files and cash collections in accordance with policy and procedure.

Qualifications for Success

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate.
  • Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Proficiency in retail pharmacy mathematics.
  • Maintain BLS/CPR certification and any other required credentials.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in healthcare.
